Dan Tien breathing is how we all start breathing as babies and young children. Young children all breath from their dan tiens. As we get older, we start learning bad habits like being self-conscious about our bellies looking big, or wanting to make our chests look bigger.

I like practicing dan tien breathing on the bus in the morning going to work. And then trying to continue it as I walk to work from the bus stop. Focussing on breathing into the dan tien and circulating the breath and energy around my body.

Even when you're not focussing on your breathing, try to breathe from your abdomen instead of your chest. What rises when you inhale? This breathing can help you relax and be healthier and re-learn what you knew when you were born -- how to breathe.
